My family and I live in a very old house built in the early 1900’s. The inside of our house needs a major facelift. I find it very hard to look at our ugly paneling walls everyday while waiting for extra money to begin a remodel job.
One day while shopping at the Goodwill I found an old handmade quilt I really liked for less than $5. I wasn’t able to use the quilt on a bed due to it being so wornout, instead it was hung on the wall in the hallway; it really transformed the look of the wall. I now have been slowly adding quilts to various walls in the house. I have a small patriotic wall hanging quilt on one wall; under this quilt, in the near future, I will be placing an American Flag that was sent to me by a soldier I used to write to.
While reading a blog one day I saw a picture of a grouping of small quilts on a child’s wall. I really liked this idea so I have begun working on some embroidery projects to turn into small quilts for Elizabeth’s wall. This birdhouse embroidery pattern was free from Homeberries;
I plan on using more of Homeberries' patterns for some of the other quilts to be used in the small quilt grouping.
Its cool

Patty,
ReplyDeleteWhen I get a chance, I'll take a picture of inside the German farm cabin -- it's been decorated with quilts too, transforming it into a very cozy and warm room.
Your quilts look very nice. Take advantage of your "old house" and decorate it COUNTRY. Many people try to capture that "old" look to their NEW homes so they can have a country home too. Another way to hide ugly walls is to buy lots of bookshelves too.
Have fun!
I love old quilts. You were very lucky to have found such a great deal - and it serves a purpose too! What more could you ask for?
