Well, I am making progress in the sewing room. I decided to keep 10 to 15 percent of my fabrics and get rid of the rest so today I met with several people to sell and give away several items. My closet is quickly becoming empty.A lot of the containers I had in my sewing room were moved to the hallway in order for me to be able to do a deep clean; now the hallway is housing empty containers waiting to be moved out to the storeroom.I found a local drama group who is interested in my heavy fabrics; the denims and corduroys. I will be donating it to them on Thursday!
Getting rid of so much fabric is a little scary; I have held on to it thinking "What if I need it"? But, if I haven't used it up yet, then I probably never will.

Wow, that's an empty closet! So lonesome and bare... it needs lots of fabric to make it warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I can't believe you gave away all your fabric... Once I arrange my fabric closet, I'll know what to toss out and to keep. Since Pamela's doing so much sewing, I need to keep a stash for her too.
Excuses, excuses! ;-)
Wow, what an inspiration! I've been thinking of doing just what you've done, but have been afraid....what if I need it later! Seeing that you did it may give me the courage to do it, too! I have WAAAY More than just a closet though...I have fabric in a closet,on a shelf on my 3x5' table, in the attic, and in boxes in our storage unit AND at my mother in laws(moved it up there when she moved in with us). Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteIt was one of the hardest things I think I've ever done when I tossed and donated a lot of fabric. All the way up to the moment of tossing those scraps into the truck to be hauled off I kept glancing back at them but I gritted my teeth and let it go.
ReplyDeleteI know we're both going to be happier with more space in our sewing rooms.
I'm still NOT going to let myself buy anymore until I can sew up at least a quarter of what I have left.
