I love Sundays, it's such a slow moving day. Normally I take a nap when we get home from church, but not today. Today we worked in the yard gathering up dead branches; it seems we never run out of branches that need burning.
I love how a fire looks when first started;
But I love it more as it burns down.
When I stand near a fire and listen to the crackling I think of camping. When I was young we camped all the time and roasted marshmallows over a hot fire.
As soon as the weather is cooler I plan to roast hot dogs and marshmallows over a nice warm fire. Hummm, or maybe I'll just cook a full meal over the fire.
Oh yes Patty....I totally get it!!
ReplyDeleteI was a girl scout and I grew up camping too!!!
lol, I expected to see pics of Elizabeth roasting marshmallows as I scrolled down!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds and all that. Another blogger friend posted a recipe for homemade marshmallows (using ingredients that we would never be able to find now) with directions on how to "toast" them over a fire. (This was from an old cookbook.) I laughed out loud.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see no one roasting something.
Packrat, if you want a GREAT recipe for home made marshmallows, made with ingredients readily found in the grocery store, let me know! I have one. Patty, please pass this on in case she doesn't see this.
ReplyDeleteI like Sunday's too, if they are restful the way they are meant to be! At least you can have a bonfire on your property. We DO have that firepit, but right now, the mosquitoes takes away all the fun!
