Busy, Busy, Busy

We have been quit busy since yesterday and it will not stop until Sunday evening!

Yesterday, Thursday, is our normal day to go to town. We have dance class for Elizabeth and a guitar lesson for Jonathan and then our normal shopping. On top of our normal schedule we added a Graduation Practice; Jonathan will be graduating with our local South Plains Christian Home Educators Association Home School Group; there are 22 kids participating this year.

Tomorrow, Saturday, is the big day and it begins at 9:00 AM! I am sure tears will be present all day.
On Sunday Elizabeth will be going to a birthday party. I prefer to give homemade gifts instead of store purchased gifts and so today I have been busy working on two quilt tops. I had put off working on these and so now I must make the time to complete them.
Hopefully I will get everything completed by Sunday; the party begins at 6:00 PM so I think there is just enough time to complete them.
Perhaps next time I will begin sooner on my next gift project, but I’m not holding my breath!

Decorating With Quilts

My family and I live in a very old house built in the early 1900’s. The inside of our house needs a major facelift. I find it very hard to look at our ugly paneling walls everyday while waiting for extra money to begin a remodel job.

One day while shopping at the Goodwill I found an old handmade quilt I really liked for less than $5. I wasn’t able to use the quilt on a bed due to it being so wornout, instead it was hung on the wall in the hallway; it really transformed the look of the wall. I now have been slowly adding quilts to various walls in the house. I have a small patriotic wall hanging quilt on one wall; under this quilt, in the near future, I will be placing an American Flag that was sent to me by a soldier I used to write to.
While reading a blog one day I saw a picture of a grouping of small quilts on a child’s wall. I really liked this idea so I have begun working on some embroidery projects to turn into small quilts for Elizabeth’s wall. This birdhouse embroidery pattern was free from Homeberries;
I plan on using more of Homeberries' patterns for some of the other quilts to be used in the small quilt grouping.

Sunday Cookout

Jonathan loves to cook and decided we should have barbeque for lunch today. It was so good! Along with cooking chicken and steak, he cooked pork ribs;
And beef ribs;
We had enough to share with our neighbors down the road and still have enough leftover meats for lunch tomorrow!

Quilt Along Setting Block

For the Star quilt I am working on for the quilt along at crazymomquilts I used a red calico fabric for the setting blocks. The quilt will have a total of 12 setting blocks.
I really like how the red stands out and I think it works very well with the blue stars I have already completed.
I am so very pleased at how the quilt is coming along.

Stormy Weather

We have had wonderful rain the last 3 days but with rain the wind soon follows. Here is what the wind did to one of our trees;It broke the tree in half and looks just awful.As the broken section fell it landed on the next tree over, getting caught in the V of the next tree.

Quilt Along Block 2

Here is block number 2 for the quilt along. This time I needed a second blue to complete the block so I searched my stash of scraps and found a cute medium blue with pink hearts.
