A Wedding Gift

Handmade kitchen towels made from utility cloth and trimmed in assorted Moda coffee themed fabrics. Utility cloth looks like muslin only much thicker. I plan to make kitchen towels for myself, out of the same utility cloth, in the near future.
Plastic bag holder made from the same Moda coffee themed fabrics. This was made by using strips of fabric stitched onto a piece of muslin fabric. It's very durable and very functional.
 Years ago we bought a set of steak knives from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are the very best knives we have ever used; so I included a set as part of the wedding gift.
Handmade with love!

A Quick Party Gift

 Birthday invitations are always fun to receive but coming up with a gift can be challenging.
Since messenger bags are in style at the moment Elizabeth thought her friend would like one.
 The invitation had a peace sign design so I decided to applique one to the outside flap.
I even quilted the flap to add a little bit of texture.
 The lining fabric was chosen based on the colors of the invitation;
hot pink, lime green, blues, orange, yellow....
Elizabeth said the Birthday Girl was happy with her gift.

Easter Sales

This year I took advantage of the Easter Sales.
Up first, homemade strawberry jelly.
Then I decided it was time to try my hand at canning some ham.
Wow, it was so amazingly good!
We have been eating biscuits with jelly for breakfast
and ham sandwiches for lunch :o)

To Sew and Sew and Sew

I've been doing a lot of sewing lately.
Some stressful.
Some personal.
Some commissioned.
My most recent project consisted of pastel fabrics in pink;
And blue;
As well as green and yellow.
All this lovely fabric was turned into napkins; 72 napkins to be exact.
They were made for an upcoming banquet Elizabeth's Bible Study class will soon be having.
Pink was the most requested color by the girls.

Completed Canopy Bed

I am so excited to finally have Elizabeth's canopy bed finished. What a job it turned out to be; way harder than I expected but well worth my time.
 I used sheer curtain panels for the canopy sides.
Along the top edge I made a ruffle from lace fabric.
The same lace fabric was used for the tiebacks as well.
 I used satin fabric for the top of the canopy which blocks the light very well.
Elizabeth closed the sides last night so it would feel like sleeping in a tent. The bad part? When I tried to wake her up this morning she didn't want to leave her bed :o)

Glass Jars

I have an addiction to glass jars. Oh how I love them!
 These gallon size jars were purchased at an estate sale for 25-cents each.
What a plus to have the labels still attached.
I love using jars this size for my wheat.
Each time I see them sitting on the counter it makes me want to bake bread.

Grapefruit

 My family loves grapefruit. So when a local store offered these over-sized wonderful tasting grapefruit, on sale 4/1.00, I decided it was time to try my hand a canning some.
It was so easy.
Don't you just love the color?
Sure hope the grapefruit taste as good as it looks.
