Another Bed Pillow
Elizabeth has been patiently waiting for her own bed pillow ever since I made this one.
When I priced ticking at Jo Ann's it was way too high, even on sale at half price. So I decided to be creative and make her pillow out of a sheet we no longer use.
The sheet worked very well and Elizabeth loves how pretty her new pillow looks.
Now she can rest her head on a fluffy pillow instead of a flat pillow.

A Little Sewing
In the middle of moving things from one house to another I decided to take a break and do a little sewing.
This is a baby size quilt top that I was practicing on before beginning a larger quilt for a customer.

Farm House in the Country...My Chamber Kitchen Stove
More than 8-years ago, while traveling through New Mexico, we stopped by a junk store and found the most amazing stove ever. I just had to have it and we promptly put it on lay-a-way. Sadly this stove had to be crated and stored because our kitchen was too small for the stove to fit. However, my new temporary kitchen is just the right size and now after all this time I get to use my new stove.
Let me just say I love it! The top has 3 burners, a thermo well and a griddle.
The thermo well is deep and works similar to a crock pot. I have pans that fit into the well for soup or for three different foods to cook all at once.
The griddle is big and will work well for pancakes or grilled cheese.
Under the griddle is the broiler.
On one side of the stove is a "pantry" which is used for storing pots and pans. I plan to use this for my cast iron skillets.
Next to the pantry is the oven. I have already baked some bread in the oven and although it's small I was able to bake two loaves at one time.
I have a lot to learn about my new stove but so far I am really loving it.

Farm House in the Country...Preparing to Move pt. 3
After we repaired the drain pipe in the wall we discovered the sink and toilet had been leaking as well; between the sink leak and the toilet leak the bathroom floor was in pretty bad shape.
So bad we had to cut part of the floor out; although it wasn't fun having to cut the floor it was interesting to see under the house.
It was very time consuming working on the floor. Pat of course did all the hard labor while I sat and watched and handed him tools when he needed them.
When the new linoleum went down you couldn't even tell the bathroom ever had a problem.
And once the toilet and sink were installed the room looked almost brand new.
It sure is nice having a husband who can fix or build anything!

Farm House in the Country...Preparing to Move pt. 2
When we began working on the temporary house right away we encountered a problem with water leaking from a wall.
When we cut into the wall we discovered a drain pipe was loose and angled wrong causing water to leak everywhere.
Before we knew it we had to cut a second section of the wall so we could reach everything.
It took several weekends of work before this problem was fixed and the opening closed back again.
When the new sheet rock went up the room started transforming.
After the painting was finished the wall looked as if we never cut into it. Our next problem was even bigger; on the other side of this wall is a bathroom with more leaks.

Farm House in the Country...Preparing to Move pt. 1
We live in a farm house that is easily 100-years old. For years our house has needed major remodeling and updating. The job is so big it would be impossible to live in the house when the work begins. 
Thanks to my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law we have a temporary house to live in while we work on our house.
Our new temporary house has needed a lot of work as well. We have spent 8-months, working part time, getting the temporary house livable. Originally I thought we would be moving into the temporary house within 3-months...was I ever wrong!

A Scrappy Idea
An idea came to me the other day when I was thinking about the quilt blocks I am making for my quilt club.
The idea was to make a second block each month so at the end of the year I'll have two quilt tops instead of one.
I decided to use some of my calico fabric scraps I have on hand from the pioneer dresses I make.
I really like how the scrappy blocks are turning out; they have a nice country look.
