King Quilt pt. 1

Each time I complete a quilt the desire for a very large king size quilt, just for me, grows. So, in January I began collection men's shirts.
I have been searching for shirts made with quality fabrics that have a nice feel to them.
After collecting 26 shirts I wrote out a plan. I would need a total of 90 blocks that are 12.5 inches square to make a king size quilt.
Once I had a nice collection of shirts I began cutting them apart.
My blocks will be made from assorted strips;
Which will be cut on an angle.
This is how each block will look; I only have 89 more blocks to go.
I am not sure how long this project will take but I hope to work on it at least twice a week.

This is going to be a nice quilt. Can't wait to see it as it grows. How will you set the blocks together? Will they have sashing, or just block to block?

This will be lovely. I'm piecing a king size quilt for us now - but I'm cheating and sending it out to be quilted I think. How will you set the blocks? Can't wait to see it completed!

What a GREAT idea with the shirts! And if found at a thrift shop, probably cheaper than quilting fabric. I love strip quilts, can't wait to see pics of progress of this!

I have 2 king sized quilts in the works: One from batiks that needs 35 more blocks and one that's friendship stars and churn dashes out of civil war repros, all the blocks for this are done. Just have to be set together.

Good luck!

Oh my...'king size'...way to go
Patty. This is going to be a
wonderful quilt. I love the strips and the 'scrappiness' of it. I'll be cheering you on!!
