Microwave Cooking

I am not a big microwave user; my toaster oven is my first choice.
However, last week I decided to try my hand at baking potatoes in the microwave. All I can say is WOW, they were so wonderful...soft, fluffy, moist and tasty.
And best of all, they only took 10-minutes to cook! I simply pricked the top, bottom and sides with a fork; cooked on high 5-minutes on one side; turned and cooked on high 5-minutes on the other side. It was that simple and oh so good.

Scrap Happy

I have an enormous amount of fabric scraps.
Most will be used for quilts.
But sometimes it's fun to just play around with my scraps and create something new; such as this scrappy drawstring bag.
I even lined the inside with large scraps stitched together.
 No two blocks are alike.
I really, really love how this bag turned out!

Rubber Boots and Duck Tape

When we get rain it feels like playtime!
Elizabeth wanted to play right away.
Sadly her rubber boots had a hole....thankfully they were easily fixed with Duck Tape.
It's not pretty but it worked perfectly.
I didn't want to be left out of the fun so I played in the water as well; goodness it was so hard walking in the mud.
We had the best time walking in the water and trying to keep our balance.
Rani didn't want to have anything to do with the water.

Gotta Love John Deere

This small John Deere garden tractor/riding mower has been in my husband's family since he was 15.
Jonathan grew up using it and now Elizabeth is learning.
It holds so many memories.

Corn Season

Today I stumbled upon a great deal on corn; 10 for 1-dollar.
I purchased 40 ears, each one as perfect as this one.
Each ear was washed and cut in half.
I cooked several batches in my pressure cooker; 5 minutes at 15-pounds.
I had a lot of corn to cook.
Here is the first batch steaming hot.
And here it is cooling down. Elizabeth was eating it as fast as I was cooking it.
All bagged up and ready for the freezer.
What fun it was to process all this corn and we still have more in the fridge for later.
